Life Changing Habits

Alright 2021 is here at last! We made it guys! We all deserve a round of applause, no seriously! I don’t know about you, but this new year has me determined to make it the best, I’m making life changing habits for my business. I know that there most likely will be some rough patches as always but I’m taking the bull by the horns and I’m making this MY year. And if you feel the same way as I do, here are some new habits for you and your business for the 2021 year.

#1 Take Care of Your Health

I know this has been a hot topic lately, but it’s only because everyone is finding out how necessary this is. This life changing habit is so crucial to your overall success. It’s important to start taking care of yourself and your health.

If this past year has taught me anything, it’s to take a break every so often and recharge. Find new ways to wind down that you enjoy, whether it is reading a book or taking a bath. Find something that you love and do it. You can’t run on a low battery for too long. When you feel your best, you bring out your best. For your family + friends and for your business.

#2 Find a New Hobby

I am so excited about this one! I think it’s been a few years since I’ve discovered a new hobby. In college it was always easy to try new things because there were so many opportunities, but now I have to go out of my way to find something new.

As a full time wedding photographer/business owner, it is very easy to devote all of my time to that. Photography is both my passion and my job so I can focus on it for forever, but having another creative outlet or hobby will help fuel even more passion and creativity into my job. This year I’ve decided to sign up for a ceramics class in my local community. This may not seem super life changing to you, but creating healthy habits and hobbies is so great for your mental health. If you haven’t picked up a new hobby in a while search on facebook for any local classes or look through Pinterest to find something new. Invite a friend to join with you!

#3 Devote Time To Education

My next life changing habit may surprise you, education. Weren’t you ever told to ‘just keep learning’ and to ‘always push yourself to learn something new’? Education never ends and it shouldn’t!

Save one day a week to focusing your time to an online class or learning a new skill on Youtube. This can be especially helpful for you and your business. Some of my favorite courses have been a Facebook ads course, a Pinterest marketing course, and an SEO course!

Those are all important aspects of running a business and learning from an experienced professional can help immensely. Make 2021 your year for change and growth!

#4 Make a List of the Things You Want

If you don’t know what you want, then how are they going to happen?! Sit down and make a dream board or write a list of all the things you are aiming for with your business and with your personal life. They don’t have to happen in 2021 and can be a 2 year of 5 year dream, but I swear writing these dreams down help make them happen. This has been a life changing habit for me, every January I sit down and dream big! Manifest those dreams!

#5 Notice Your Small Wins

Because heck yeah you deserve it! Some days your wins may look smaller than others. Maybe your win for the day is making the bed and actually eating 3 meals or maybe your win is booking another dream client! Whatever your wins are for the day, celebrate them! You’ve been working your bum off.

#6 Follow A Meaningful Routine

I don’t know about you, but a routine is so necessary for me and it is something I’m going to work on a lot this year. It is sometimes hard to create a routine to follow especially if you are a full time entrepreneur or small business owner and have the freedom to do what you want with your time.

Start your days with the most important priority and schedule your time around that. I personally dedicate each day of the week to a specific area of my business. For example- Mondays are my editing days. Tuesdays are my education days. Wednesdays are my upkeep days so I batch my instagram content, work on my blog posts, and update my website or client guides. Thursdays are editing days again. And Fridays are my days to work on new client business ideas or new product ideas.

Doing that helps me create a space for productivity each day by knowing what tasks I’m focusing on. This has been a huge life changing habit to implement not only in my personal life but especially in my business life. Take time for you and plan out your day, it makes all the difference.

#7 Practice Gratitude Daily

I’ll be honest. I slacked on this one this past year. 2020 was rough and I was able to easily think about all the things I was missing out on. Looking back on the whole year as a whole, there were so many blessings that I missed to recognize.

Having gratitude for even just the little things help keep a positive attitude. Sometimes we can’t change everything around us, but we can change how we perceive things and we can adapt to how we react to them. Positivity never hurts.

#8 Change the Way That You Speak To Yourself

Your internal monologue is how you process the outside world and internalize the external stimuluses. You can choose to see everything as a storm or view life and yourself with rose tinted glasses. When you change the way you speak to yourself, you can change your reality.

If you are telling yourself that you can’t do something, you won’t. Because if you don’t believe something is achievable before you even start, you are not going to work as hard for it. No need to put in the extra effort if you already have decided that you are going to fail.

If you don’t believe in yourself let’s change your narrative! You write the story of your life and you can decide what energy you give off. Pay attention to how you speak to yourself and make changes to it.  Start telling yourself you can and you will. Our word is our power.

Let’s make 2021 better than last year, which shouldn’t be too hard, right?! What life changing habits are you going to implement this year? 2021 is ours to do what we want, let’s do this!!
