Engagement outfit planning is so dang hard. And with holidays right around the corner, engagement season is here and I love to help my clients plan the perfect outfit for a fun engagement session.
We all know how hard it can be to plan outfits for the day let alone for a photo session and for another person! I’ve picked a few of my favorite tips and shops to help make your engagement outfit shopping that much easier!
A Few Favorites
Asos – They have the cutest dresses, jeans, and tops, your one stop shop for everything. They even got stuff for your man. Perfect spot for killer engagement outfits.
Lulu’s – If you’re looking for a more dressy vibe for your engagement outfit, Lulu’s has literally the cutest clothes and I love their dresses.
Baltic Born One of my favorites and the best place for your more dressy outfits. Finding an engagement outfit here would be a breeze. A lot of the dresses are solid colors which is perfect for your session and easy to match with your man.
H&M Not only will H&M have something for both you and your man, you’ll be able to go to their store and shop around. Online shopping isn’t for everyone and luckily major cities have H&M’s all over!
Roolee Another one of my favorite spots for finding trendy pieces perfect for any engagement session!
Red Dress Similar to Lulu’s, perfect spot for finding casual and dressy options.
Favorite places for jewelry and accessories:
Gigi Pip– The flat brim hats there are my absolute favorite. I own 3 or 4 and love them. Quality is amazing and they last forever!
Banks & Co. If you are a gold jewelry fan then this is your go-to place girl, fairly inexpensive too!

My Favorite Engagement Outfit Tips
-Solid colors are key. Try to refrain from large patterns because those can be distracting. Solid colors are timeless and super easy to match. Instead of patterns try for different textures and fabric. This can add dimension to your pictures without adding an intense pattern.
-Wear clothes that are comfortable. If you feel like you constantly have to tug at your shirt or your dress is a little short to run around in, save it for later or wear some shorts or spandex underneath. You’ll want to feel completely comfortable and in love with your outfit the whole time during your session!
-Bring accessories. I’m a huge hat girl so I always love wearing hats in photos and think they are something simple that adds so much!! Jewelry also takes your outfits to the next level. If you are having your session in the fall or winter, bring a cute blanket scarf and wrap it around you and your man. In the summer, bring a pretty flower bouquet along! Any little thing like that adds so much to the pictures.
-If you struggle with trying to come up with a color scheme, maybe choose your wedding colors so your save the dates fit with your wedding theme! Look at your all time favorite pins on Pinterest and use that as inspo or try to recreate those for the perfect engagement outfit.
-If you both will be wearing jeans, shoot for different shades of jeans so that they aren’t the exact same. When my husband and I take photos, I’ll wear lighter blue jeans and Austin will wear darker blue jeans. Or he’ll wear light jeans and I’ll wear black jeans. That adds variety and our legs don’t blend together if we do sitting down pictures.
-Just be you!! If you love trendy, wear trendy. If you love timeless, wear timeless. Wear what makes you feel hecka hot in. If location and lighting are the most important aspect in preparing for your session, outfits are not far behind. Outfits tie everything together and help showcase your personalities.
